Little Blanket with Ribbons

Here is a little blanket I made for my daughter. It's made from 2 fleece blankets (bought at CVS for $1 each)

Got the idea/tutorial here: Baby "tag" Blanket Tutorial

I started out by using an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper as my template. (ended up being about 7x10 when sewn)

After cutting out my pieces, I pinned ribbon pieces on the striped piece, then put the green piece on top and pinned them together. (Yes I did it wrong the 1st time and the ribbons ended up on the inside when I turned it right side out) Kind of like a ribbon sandwich...

After it was all pinned, I sewed it together leaving a small opening on one of the sides so I could turn it right side out.

After turning it right side out, I folded the opening, and ironed it down so it would stay that way.

I sewed around the edges twice, making sure to sew the opening closed.

Then, I used Seam-Steam 2 and another piece of fabric, and cut out a heart shape. I took off the backing, and ironed on the heart to the little blanket. (Turned the iron too hot at first, and almost burnt the fleece)

Not a hard sewing project, pretty dang easy in fact.

I would note, that if you do make this, I would not advise selling it. There is a "Taggie Blanket" that has this design patented and apparently they pursue anyone who tries to sell their idea. I did however see some of these tag blankets at my local resale baby stuff store.

Apple Baby Crinkle Toy

I decided to make a crinkle toy for my little girl. She likes Apples, so I thought it would be appropriate.
I have to admit, it is not the best, but it was my first time trying it out, and I was happy with the results. I got the basic idea here: Crinkle Toy Tutorial

I cut out the apple shape on paper with my cricut (Create A Critter cartridge) then put that template onto my fabric.

I pinned some ribbon on the inside of the apple to mimic a stem and leaves. (I did it totally wrong the 1st time, and ended up having the ribbons on the inside of the apple)

Then I pinned the whole thing together and sewed it, leaving an opening on the side to fill it.

After it was sewn, I turned it right side out, and added some fluff and a piece of a baby wipes bag (for the crinkle) inside.

Then I folded the open end closed and ironed it (so it would stay folded) and then sewed along the outside edge (poorly I might add)

After it was all sewn, I added the eyes and smile with black embroidery thread.

It was a pretty easy project to do, I am pretty new at sewing, but hope to get better.

Drawstring Bag

This is the drawstring bag that I made last night. It's about a foot tall.
I think I did a pretty good job. The inside liner is green. I used my sewing machine and just straight stitched the whole thing. I got the idea/tutorial here: Drawstring Bag Tutorial
I didn't do it exactly like the tutorial, but it did give me some good ideas. I am hoping to try and make a bigger one.
